Normally I would have read all six of these books, but because I'm a carer for my husband, I could only read and review one of the books.  Over the coming months I will finish reading the other books.

So for this review the book I read was Erica Monroe's The Scandalous widow.  This is the first time I have read any of Erica's books and at some point I will be buying more of her books.

At the start of the book a murder has being committed and this is were we first meet Gabriel Sinclair who is a Bow Street Runner and recently promoted to Principal Officer.  Gabriel is used to dealing with murders but this time, this murder brings him into contact with a woman who he has tried to forget for the last three years.  Because the person who has been killed is Philip Forster, Earl of Wolverston.

The woman in question is  Lady Jemma Forster, Countess of Wolverston.  I liked Jemma, she is feisty and she also speaks her mind, and she's loyal to her friends.  And it through this loyalty that she asks Gabriel if she can help with the investigation and also because she has idea who could have killed Philip.

I loved the back story of why Jemma and Gabriel couldn't be together.  And why she had to marry Philip.

All in all this was a great book to read and I will give it 4/5 stars.  That's mainly because I haven't read the other books.

This series is available to buy from Amazon and all other retailers.

I this complementary copy in return for a honest review.
