Set apart by her ethereal beauty and fearless demeanor, Ophelia Killoran has always been a mystery to those around her—and a woman they underestimated. No one would guess that she spends her nights protecting the street urchins of St. Giles. Ophelia knows what horrors these children face. As a young girl, she faced those horrors herself, and she would have died…if not for the orphan boy who saved her life.
A notorious investigator, Connor Steele never expected to encounter Ophelia Killoran on his latest case. It has been years since he sacrificed himself for her. Now, she hires orphans from the street to work in her brother’s gaming hell. But where does she find the children…and what are her intentions?
Ophelia and Connor are at odds. After all, Connor now serves the nobility, and that is a class of people Ophelia knows firsthand not to trust. But if they can set aside their misgivings and work together, they may discover that their purposes—and their hearts—are perfectly aligned.
This is book 2 in The Wicked Wallflower series, and what a series its turning out to be. From the very first page, this book grabs you and demands to be read. This is a definite must read and one that I can highly recommend.
On the outside Ophelia shows the world that she is strong, she had to be growing up on the streets takes strength and courage...but underneath and with time she shows that she has a big heart, and this shows more than when she is with Connor.
Connor also understands why Ophelia behaves in a certain way, because he also was a child of the streets, but for Connor things changed for him, some might say for the better and some might say not.
For me Ophelia and Connor were wonderful characters, mainly as I've already said they understand each other. There is one character and please don't don't think too harshly of her, she has her reasons and lets just say, she does the right thing in the end.
I will give this book 5/5 stars. You can buy the book from Amazon UK on August 7th and all other retailers.
